The danger of pesticides in your food, and how to remove it

Although you may not see it, the food we buy is loaded with harmful chemicals, in order to preserve our food longer. But does anyone tell us how truly harmful these are?

Many of the chemicals do not even get tested before being added to the food we eat, they are considered to be innocent until proven guilty.

Cancer rates are at an all time high, and we wonder why? Maybe its because they keep poisoning our food! In the past few decades, there has been a 2000% increase of chemical use in America!

Must we always have the prettiest fruit? Or the freshest fruit? Couldn't we pick the ugly ducklings that are still perfectly fine to eat, in order to save them from going to waste?

Organic is not always the "prettiest" option, but let me tell you this, it wont harm my body, the growing method is actually good for the earth, whereas inorganic is very bad.
Organic, where I live, is not very affordable, and the options are really limited. Which means that I have to buy inorganic, a painfully large amount.

But if everyone began to buy organic as much as possible, (and by anyone, I mean the people who are perfectly capable of doing so, but choose not to) we would begin to see more and more organic products pop up on the shelves.
You know why? Because companies. follow. demand.

Like I said though, right now times are hard, you can't always buy everything organic, and even if you can, your options are pretty limited. Especially in the winter.
So, let's get things straight:

I'm not trying to sell you a product here, i'm trying to make sure you are healthy and aware of what you are putting in your body.

Especially if you decide to adapt to a vegan diet, lets face it, you're going to be eating a lot of fruits and veggies.
I bought this spray a while ago, when I first started really looking at what was in my food. Although you can re-purpose the bottle, (or even make some natural cleaner to gift people to encourage good eco habits) let's face it, you can't buy it forever.

There is however a few Natural cleaners you can try!

Vinegar and water soak
- A large bowl full of water
- 2 tbsp of vinegar (any type will do)

Soak fruits and veggies for about 20 minutes, and then rinse them really well to wash away all the pesticides and vinegar.

Salt water soak
- 3 tbsp salt
- A large bowl of warm water

Soak for 30-40 minutes, and then rinse off really well.

Quick wash spray
- Up-cycled spray bottle
- 1 tbsp lemon juice
-2 tbsp vinegar
-1 cup of warm water

Spray onto your fruit or veggies and let sit for a minute, then rinse off with warm water in the sink before consuming.
It's crucial to rinse your veggies after using any sort of removal technique, by soaking or spraying them, you are loosening the oils from your food, and then you want to rinse it off properly.

I hope I helped you find a way to rid your home of unwanted chemicals! You can check out my other stuff to find out ways to get rid of them in other parts of your home too!
